There is one glaringly silly thing that this and all such shows do, and that is to put forth the idea that “spooky stuff” can only happen at night.
This entire idea stems from a tendency in people to fear the darkness, thus shows like this present the night time as “spooky”, just as horror writers do by associating the full moon with werewolves, or that vampires burn in daylight, so they are only active at night. I would love to see a paranormally themed show that took place mainly during the day, instead of the same old shadows in dark alley routine.

so what if people like to watch these shows? so what if people like to take their minds off reality for a while? Would it be better if every show features “important issues” all the time? these things are for entertainment so people could relax sometimes and not go crazy thinking about things we don’t have control over aaallll the time.

Totally agree with Observer.

You yanks will watch/believe any old sh1t just to take your minds off reality. And the powers that be know this all too well. It’s called “eye off the ball stuff”.
Takes your enquiring minds off the important issues like Iraq/Afghanistan-petrodollar warfare-new world order-banking etc. and fills it up with ‘paranormal’ kids stuff, and media blanket coverage of insane things like swine-flu, Susan Boyle etc. for weeks!!! Real dumbing down of the sheep.
